Lake Ray Roberts is located directly North of Lake Lewisville on the outskirts of the City Of Denton, Texas. The lake is part of the Trinity River system and its water flows into Lake Lewisville. The man made lake is approximately 29,000 acres and is an excellent fishing and recreational lake. A popular recreational destination is the Isle Du Bois State Park located on the South East side of the lake. Located inside the park are hiking trails, a fishing pier, plenty of spots for either RV or tent camping, as well as horseback riding trails.
Lake Ray Roberts is stocked with largemouth bass, the most commonly sought after species of fish in the lake. The lake also has an outstanding population of crappie, white bass, as well as catfish. Anglers looking for opportunities from the shore are often drawn to the tailrace area below the dam, as well as the fishing pier located in the state park.
